Student Life

Colleges are not just interested in smart students; they are looking for "well-rounded" students who are bright, motivated, committed, and involved. The Student Life program provides students with the opportunities, resources, and tools to explore their passions.

Students engage in four types of activities designed to build upon their personal interests, talents and community spirit:

  • Leadershipsl students at education protest.jpg
Students engage in activities where they apply their leadership skills at College Track or another organization. Some of these activities have included participation in the student senate, leading service initatives with College Track's Key Club, as well as tutoring elementary students.
  • Enrichment in the Artssl_ulct_dance.jpg
Students are offered several workshops where  they have a chance to develop their creativity. College Track offers courses in the arts, music and dance.  Past workshops have included digital storytelling, mural arts, anime and Indian dance and Reggae. Students perform at College Track graduations and other special events.
  • Community Servicesl oakland zoo clean-up.jpg
Students complement classroom learning with real-world experience working with local nonprofit organizations. Through a pattern of service, students develop a feeling of belonging to a larger community.  They are encouraged to identify problems and find effective solutions that address their communities’ needs.
  •  Experiential Learningsl_oak_closeup.jpg
College Track offers a range of activities that nurture a wide range of interests. Some activities College Track students have participated in include a backpacking trip to the Sierras, a Close Up Washington DC leadership trip, field trips to cultural institutions, and opportunities to study abroad internationally.
