College Track opened its downtown Oakland center in 2002. In 2010, College Track re-opened in a new site located in Oakland's Jack London Square. Currently serving 200 high school students, College Track Oakland works with students who live in and attend schools throughout the city and in nearby communities. College Track’s Oakland center is staffed by a five-person team led by Site Director Shria Tomlinson.

About Oakland

Connecting with the Community

College Track students are active citizens in their communities. College Track Oakland helped Rebuilding Oakland Together in its effort to rehabilitate the homes of low-income residents—especially the elderly and disabled—so that they can continue to live in their homes safely, comfortably, and independently.

College Track students also joined other volunteers in marking Earth Day with a community clean-up. Nine students trimmed trees, picked up trash, and otherwise helped make Oakland's Arroyo Viejo Park a better place for the city's residents. College Track sent five volunteers to Oakland's first International Youth Day Festival to perform a variety of tasks, including monitoring booths, teaching bike safety, and helping event organizers set up for the festivities.
